When I visited Davidson last year, I really couldn’t tell whether or not people party/drink there. Obviously I’m assuming people do drink, but I’m wondering to what extent. Is it a “work hard, play hard” kind of environment? Just curious because I really couldn’t pick up on a vibe there. Thanks!
I’ll bump this thread for you as I too am interested in this.
I’m a current student there and I can definitely assure you that people for sure do drink/party there. It’s really what you make of it-- I know people who really follow the work hard play hard motto, people who casually go out once a week or once every couple weeks, and people who rarely or never go out. If you like to party and drink, there is no problem going out on any Friday and Saturday, and most of the time something is happening on Wednesdays as well. If it’s not really your scene, it’s very easy to just not participate and there’s always something else going on (usually events sponsored by the Union Board). Davidson, unlike a lot of other liberal arts schools, does have greek life and eating houses which makes the social scene extremely inclusive and a ton of fun.
@davidsonstudent do you have to pay to be in an eating house?
You do have to pay, but you get meals with your eating house or frat so it actually ends up being cheaper to be in one than to get the meal plan on campus! (And it’s much better food too)
What do,students think of the dining hall food? I just visited and it was 1 1/2 stars at best! Especially since I had just visited Gettysburg, which was 5 stars ++
Curious as to whether any Davidson students have boats ( speedboats or sailboats) . The lake is beautiful.
@Chrisgoog – I think my D would give Davidson food three and half stars. Niche gives it a B+. Seems about right.
@Publisher – students have access to college-owned sailboats and kayaks to use on the lake. They also have a club crew team. Don’t think speed boats are part of the equation, though there may be some students from the area whose families have bigger boats at the lake.
