Are any other students from out of state driving? Yeah, yeah, I know it's pretty ridiculous what with gas prices, and considering I live all the way in Maryland, but...it's just got to be done, an ineffable desire.

Looks like I'll have the money because I'm proving to be the best waitress ever. Anyone ever done it before? Have any advice on routes to take?

Do you think it'll be possible to sell the car once I get to Berkeley?

Take route 80...it's the most direct route, goes straight from NYC directly into Berkeley (ends in SF)...plenty of cool stuff to see on the way and you get to pass through really scenic parts of both the rockies and the sierra nevada...if you drive all day, it should take you no more than four or five days...but if you want to take more time, you can hit up cool places (devils tower, Mt. Rushmore, yellowstone, grand teton etc.).

Have fun at Cal...

Go Bears!

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I'm planning on taking a bunch of detours to see the sights. It's going to be one crazy trip - not necessarily a la Kerouac or Kesey, but close;)

I can't help but think that my life is on the brink of a huge and wonderful change. I'm about to go insane.
