Driving to Admissions Office...

It's not going to matter. Your reasons for appeal seem insignificant and will honestly sound ridiculous to any admissions office. Hispanic edge? Common on now. There's a 39% Hispanic population in the local public school up here in New York. You can't use that as your hook to get re-evaluated. Focus on your options. The competition and quality of applicants to all colleges has been incredible this year. It's not the end of the world. Pick a school that has accepted you. Give it a chance. You might love it.

For me, my transcript from a course I took at FAU over the summer was listed as unevaluated for one reason or another before I looked up my decision. I got an A and it was a 3000 level college course, which means a lot. We're not all sore losers. Many of us have our reasons.

No it wasn't residency information on the ACT she didn't put her ssn because they told her she didn't have to, but because she didn't UF did not have her score for some reason.

Most likely, your transcript from FAU was evaluated but the status had not been updated on the computer site. If it was in their possession, it was evaluated along with everything else you included with your application (or sent later).
Good luck at whatever college you end up attending Things always have a way of working out.

Don't drive up here, the admissions officers are not going to come out and talk to you (at least the one I know). However I would call and plead my case to them. Ask how to go about the appeal process, maybe about the reason you were rejected, etc. There is at least one person on these forums that I am very surprise didnt get in. And as some said before, "UF's lost."

One thing about taking classes at other schools is that you need to make sure there is an equivalent course at the university you attend. For example if you took a class called Sex and the Middle East at XYZ university, UF might not accept it into their transcript.

when do appeals start?

Ohhh...that is interesting. Great. My son didn't have his SSN on his SATs that were sent to UF. He received a letter from UF Admissions that they didn't receive the scores even though College Board showed sent to UF. He didn't mention this to me until this morning, but they asked if his SS# was on the test when he called to speak with someone. HE didn't know. Did he check Collegeboard.com? NOooooooooooooooo. He just had them resent WITHOUT the SSN. I had him log in and sure enough, SSN was blank.

He's smart, but ARGH! I stayed up all last night for him for nothing.

well guys thanks for the feedback. i sent my letter this morning and will call this week. it is isnt so much that i dont have safety schools its that i am very determined at ending up in UF so if i have to do CC then transfer then let it be. i could go to FSU and FIU but i would regret it forever. so there you go.
also, i dont know if there was a mistake because everyone in my classes with similiar or worse stats (obviously some were better) got in and i cant see why. if anything, i want an explanation.

an explanation?...besides the fact that you all may not have been reviewed by the exact same admissions officers, i don't see why....(sarcasm lol)

but good luck, i hope it is successful

lol obviously. but i want to know if there is somethign solid that i am lacking or was it just luck of the draw. either way, i will say anything, do anything, to get into UF

i think you should too....i have a good feeling it will be successful, im forcing my girlfriend to do the same thing...whatever you do, do NOT conform with these "you're wasting your time" people...because if you do, you will go years after this wondering if you might have been successful. go for it! just dont do anything over the phone, because when it comes to UF staff, you have to take care of business in person...their phone staff are usually rude people

floridamomx3,

I think my D also failed to check something. With her it was the transcript. She just assumed that it was sent and never called admissions to verify that it was. I wonder what can be done now. The school was responsible for sending it on time. We requested it in September, but we should have verified that it was received.

I am so sad right now.

floridamom the same exact thing happened to me too

stranger,

I am wondering if your school is in south florida. Could it be the same high school?

florida mom

i am in Central Florida, Orlando. All my friends got their decisions, so it cant be the same school

stranger,

You are right. Different schools. We are in South Florida

Florida mom

what do we do now?

stranger,

Contact admissions. Find out what is missing. Try to get it in asap.

That is what we are doing.

Good luck!

Im dazed and confused because A LOT of my friends from my school got accepted. Maybe, JUST MAYBE, my problem is leaving my residency information black led them to believe Im an Out of State student.
ALSO, I just found out that my school made a mistake in my transcript too. They did not include my summer class I took in my community college. So thats another thing to argue.
Therefore, I have additional information that has been ommited.
I'm willing to drive up there with you guys.
Im willing to do anything too.
