ahpimommy: Tell your daughter to hang onto that guy if he’s willing to drive all the way from Alabama to Missouri, load up his truck with her belongings and drive all the way to T-Town! He’s definitely a keeper! My son dislikes driving (he just does not do it enough), so in his case, he’d probably offer to pay for shipping things.

This year, I am so glad that I do not have to cart my son from Virginia to Alabama. His stuff is in storage (well, most of it is and the rest, he can ship to his roommate’s home). The guys can handle getting all of it out of storage. I’d busy with other things, including a possible move.

momreads: Oh I have!!! This darling southern boy is a real keeper :). He has been up to visit twice this summer and we are picking him up in Nashville this week on our way to the beach house.
We looked into storage and then the whole tornado thing happened and since he is from Alabama his parents were kind enough to come right away and move her out and take everything to their home where i picked DD and her belongings up a week later. What we couldn’t fit in my car DD’s boyfriend loaded into his truck and drove it to our home (see he’s already practiced !).
I have to tell you I will miss taking her down but look forward to seeing her apt and how she and her sorority sisters have decorated it. They have been Skyping since they all got back to their respective home making plans and one of our guest rooms is filled with the things she’s been collecting over the summer.
To those of you who are planning the “exodus” to school …have fun …enjoy the last bit of time with your kiddos…make some memories and I hope it all goes smoothly!

ahpimommy: My son is excited because his room will have two closets. There’s a washer/dryer off the kitchen. He and his roommates will probably use a lot of the stuff I sent down a year ago – including dishes, glasses, art work. I know that he and one roommate like to keep the place tidy – haven’t met the other roommate yet. But I’m sure that everything will be fine … and mesquite_girl24 is one of their neighbors (and I know that she loves to cook).

Momreads…where is your son living? DD is in Sterling Crimson and her boyfriend is in the Woodlands.

I managed to put a good chunk of stuff in storage (namely most of my cooking stuff), took some home, and currently have the rest of everything with me this summer. But since I’m not going to get to go home before classes start, I feel like I’ll be paying for my parents to ship me everything. Or I could just go shopping since I hopefully wont need too many of the things I left at home. :D
