Drop everything and enroll in the Journalism Class!!!

Okay, maybe that was a teeny bit of an over-statement, but think about it. In all of the success stories I've heard about the top schools, all the students, as high schoolers, were involved in their school newspaper.

What about writing and editing for the school newspaper looks so good for college applications?

Maybe writing for the high school newspaper improves essays.

Though I think your statement is a generalization.

It might be a generalization, but I really think that taking part in the school newspaper would help… It’s not like I’m making a racist joke :/

But I think that more than looking good, a person who enjoys writing enough to work on the school newspaper is probably a good writer and essays make a difference for students who are applying to the top schools. I have my master’s in journalism.
