Drop Latin and Switch to Spanish?

Hi all,
I'm a high school freshman and I was thinking about dropping latin. I'm currently in Latin II Adv, but I'm not sure if I should drop it and take Spanish I. My school has a program that condenses Spanish I and Spanish II Adv into one year, so in my junior year I would take Spanish III Adv. I don't really like latin as a language, but I'm worried that it will hurt my college applications. What should I do?

That plan sounds fine, finish the year and don’t drop anything. If you get the equivalent of 3 to 4 years of Spanish you will be fine.

If you’re a freshmen it’s fine. Most colleges with foreign language requirements want 2 or more years of the SAME foreign language.

If you don’t like Latin, finish your freshman year and then switch to Spanish – depending on what colleges you are looking at, definitely take Spanish your sophomore and junior years (which gives you three years of foreign language and two of the same language) and possibly take Spanish your senior year as well.
