Hi, I'm pre-med and I'm a freshman at Notre Dame...and I'm planning on droping my calculus class. (Calc B) because I've just been so lazy, and its so hard for me to play catch up right now. It's like nearly impossible for me to get a decent grade in it, so how bad will it look to med-schools that i didn't take my 2nd semester of calc until sophomore year?

i hear its not too bad to drop a course once or twice. It becomes a blaring problem when you make it a habit. Btw, what is a "decent" grade. If you can make a B in he course, id say dont drop. You don't wanna have to suffer a whole semester with calc again.

um, yeah, a B was not possible. I dont think the material was so bad, i just think it was my study habits--or lack thereof--that really did it for me, so i dont mind taking it over again with a fresh start.

I'm actually going to do it over the summer, because i have to take both orgo and bio. That way, i can get it out of the way, and stay on track

If i drop it, it won't show up on my transcript at all, but med schools will probably be able to figure out what happened, since i didn't take Calc A and Calc B back to back.

Dropping calc isn't really a problem, but if you carry your study habits (not being able to keep up with calc b?) into med school with you, then you might have some issues :)

if it doesn't show up at all (make sure you ask the dean or whoever is in charge of transcripts) then drop it if you have absolutely not chance at a B.

If it doesn't show up at all then drop it even if you're getting a B+. But make sure to check very thoroughly beforehand. AND make sure you're carrying a full courseload post-drop.
