dropping a class

this is mainly for any UNC students taht go here.... but i took a class that i thought was on business models and last week it went from being an alright class to a straigt class on linear programming ---- something i struggle with even in HS. i went to the registrar's office and they told me i needed to get a drop/add slip from my advisor and they needed to sign it since the first 2 weeks are over.

do they ever argue with the student who wants to drop a class? i am already taking more than the minimum hours, and i came in with 14 HRs of AP credit already. if i stay in this class .. i know i'll fail it. the prof speaks very little english and moves on without covering a topic he begins.

yeahh i think its fine.
i am dropping a class because i have 18 hours and the class i am taking was supposed to be fun but it ended up not being a lot of fun.
just dont take less than 12
just make sure its not an important prequisite for your major...

it has nothing to do with my major.... i am taking 15 hours as it stands, and dropping it gives me 12 + 14 HRs i had already. all that class will do is really hurt my GPA. i want to take a different math class that is more fun. this is just painful.

Stay at 12 or more for insurance purposes....and you are still classified as a full time student. Which math class are you in....? look on the registrar site for dates for dropping a class. My advice is drop it when you are certain to have a bad grade. (Bad is a personally defined grade for some that means a D or F others a B is bad.

No, they should give you absolutely no trouble about it. They'll probably ask if it's for your major or not. The best part about dropping a course at UNC is that it doesn't show up on your transcript- no W, no notation. I dropped a few courses and I saw my grades from that semester on my advisor's computer one time, and the entry read "(class number) *** DROPPED ***" and I thought, oh, no, but apparently it's just an internal thing. My official transcript was clean.

And a word of advice- if you already know you're going to drop the course, just do it, so you don't just quit going and forget about it and miss the drop date, or even worse, wind up failing the class. It's not as hard to let happen as it might seem.

I just graduated in May, so if anyone wants advice about courses, or anything, really, I'm always more than happy to dispense it.

thanks. i need to find my advisor's office today to do it. i know i'll be dropping it no doubt. i wont NEED linear programming for political science nor law school.
