Dropping a Course Before Applying to Transfer

I’m considering dropping a class that has nothing to do with my major and only satisfies part of the core curriculum at my current school. Most of the schools I’m applying to either don’t accept the course for transfer credit or have it count as an elective.

This is likely an unwarranted fear but, if I were to drop it, would the schools I’m applying to question why I’m only taking 13 credits this semester? (the minimum to be full time here is 12 credits)

As long as the receiving school doesn’t have an issue with units completed, then it shouldn’t be an issue.

Some schools, like the UC’s, have a requirement minimum of 60 units for transfer at the time of matriculation. It shouldn’t be an issue.

Remember that your current school may still be your school if your targeted schools don’t accept the transfer.

None of the schools I’m applying to have requirements similar to the UCs.

In the case that I don’t transfer, I brought a bunch of AP/dual enrollment credits from HS that covered a lot of the core curriculum here.

So my only real worry was if a school would see me taking only 13 credits as odd. Thanks!

check to see if the schools you are applying to requires you to notify them of any schedule change.
