Dropping a Language

In the fall I will be going into my junior year of high school. The past two years I have taken a full course load of honors classes and have maintained roughly a 4.3 GPA. As a junior I plan to take 3 APs. However due to a scheduling conflict I am being told to chose between an AP and an honors language class. The AP happens to be the class I am most interested in, confident that I can do well in grade-wise, and what I am considering pursuing as a college major. I know taking 2 years of a language doesn’t look great to many top schools though, and I was just wondering if someone could honestly tell me if I’m making the wrong decision. (Also, not sure if this matters, but I have just completed Honors Spanish 3 as a sophomore-took Honors Spanish 2 as a freshman). Thank you!

If you completed Spanish 3, at most schools that counts as 3 years of language.
Whether it is going to make a difference or not may depend on the schools and majors you are considering. For some it might be helpful to have completed through Spanish 4 and/ or AP and for some, as long as your rigor is there, it shouldn’t matter. And your guidance counselor should be able to address that you had a scheduling conflict that led to your decision to stop at level 3, if needed for a particular college.

Spanish 1 counts as a year of FL, so you seem to,have your three years. It doesn’t matter if S1 was taken in MS. It should appear on your transcript. If you are unsure about this, or if for some reason you never took S1 talk to the Gc about it. I am sure it can be cleared up.
