Dropping class red flag?

I am currently about to get destroyed in my AP computer science class. I had high grades over the past 3 quarters 97+ but this last quarter is going to be bad. I've already over committed so I don't have enough time to study. I'm afraid that if I drop the class it'll show up as a red flag on admissions to the very top schools. What do you guys think?

If they see that I dropped a class with high grades what will they think? Is it a bad idea?

…If your school considers an A to be a 90+, you need a 69% or greater to get an A for the year. How bad is it? Can’t you just stick it out? Seems like a shame to waste all that work and those grades.

Is AP computer science really that hard?! I’m taking it next yr as my only AP
as for advice - I agree with the guy above me… if the math adds up anything above a 70% would be sufficient so why not just stick it out

It’s pretty effing bad. I got by all year because the stuff was so easy and all our daily assignments were 100s. Now we are taking practice AP tests for test grades and today I got a 30. Granted it was a 50 point curve and he didn’t even count the grade because we have time - I’m still concerned knowing how screwed I am. It’s also an online class so I have to make time for it in my schedule which is super difficult. I will get credit for my 99 last semester but I don’t know if I will get any credit this semester. I may be able to stick it out but the stress isn’t worth it.

Bro it’s really not a difficult class. We did it online and we used the worst textbook ever - Blue Pelican Java. It was so hard to learn. Now that I look at Barron’s I realize how much I missed. I am really screwed. How much do top schools care about drops??!

If you’re really serious about this:
If you’re a junior, it probably won’t matter too much.
If you’re a senior, you will have to call all of the schools you have applied to and ask.

However, can’t you make up for the deficiency of your program by doing extra studying, such as with the Barron’s book you mentioned? You have resources and you obviously have the aptitude/ability to learn the information.

You’re right I do but I don’t have the time/patience/energy/interest. I hate this and I am doing do much stuff right now. So how sure are you that it won’t have a very big impact? I’m pretty scared but I may just drop to save the headache.
