I was recently admitted to Yale SCEA, and I plan on matriculating. On my Common Application senior course-load for the second semester, I included the five AP classes I am taking and two dual enrollment classes.

I'm wondering if I would be able to talk to my admissions officer now and drop one or both of the dual enrollment courses, seeing as Yale doesn't accept them for credit. I've taken so many extra courses in high school, that it wouldn't affect my graduation prospects in the slightest: I have around 35 credits whereas you only need 24 to graduate.

Do you think I should contact my admissions officer and ask about this? I would like to take on different projects during then, and the free time would be useful.

I don’t think it’s your graduating that is the concern, being accepted to Y in the SCEA round is at a much higher level that that. When you were accepted SCEA, it was based in part on the sr year courses you listed, so if you are considering dropping any classes, you should definitely call or email Y and talk to admissions. If it were my kid, I’d get it in writing (email) before changing the submitted schedule substantially.

^^ I second that. Your SCEA acceptance is based upon the successful completion of your course load while maintaining your GPA. Do not drop any course without first speaking with your guidance counselor, who may need to get prior approval in writing from Admissions. Now that you’ve been accepted, you don’t want to have your acceptance rescinded.
