As a pre-med, I’m taking Math 10A this semester, and needless to say, I’m not doing very well. We’ve had 3 quizzes so far and none of them went decently. I got 8/12 and 10/12 on the last 2 quizzes, and the class averages were 6 and 9 respectively.
We had the 3rd quiz today, and that one didn’t go well either. I think I earned a 9/12 max, or an 8/12, depending on whether my GSI gives me 1/3 points on a problem I totally bombed.
Our lowest 3 quiz scores are dropped, and quizzes are 12% of our grade. Everything in this class is curved, but I feel so discouraged just looking at these scores. After today’s quiz, I just felt numb instead of disappointed, like I’m just used to failing at this point.
I’m comprehending all the material, but we only get 10 minutes for the quizzes. It’s always a time crunch for me.
Anyway, is Math 10A offered in the spring, and would it be a good idea to drop the class, considering what’s happened? I have an 80% right now, calculating what I have so far. We don’t get our midterm scores back until after the drop deadline.
