Is it ok if I drop one of my FIG classes for one that is not part of it? I'm having trouble getting my schedule to work out plus I don't want that particular professor.

I don’t think so. When you signed up for the FIG with your Academic Advisor, you signed a contract and it said that “I will make no changes to the cohort schedule of classes. I will not drop or change any of the classes included in my FIG.” However, if it’s that urgent that you drop a FIG class, then you need to talk to the advisor again.

I don’t remember seeing that statement and since I’m part of a FRI FIG, I basically filled out a piece of paper at the meeting, ranking my FIG preference. They immediately handed me a sheet of paper with the unique ID for registration. I hope I’m not screwed because I already made the changes…

When I put down my FIG’s unique number on the computer during registration, it wouldn’t allow me to change the classes associated with the FIG. If you were able to do it, then maybe your FIG rules are different. I think you should have that contract with you cause my advisor let me keep mine.

The whole point of a FIG is that you all share the same exact classes together. You aren’t allowed to change one class because you don’t like the professor. I think you can just drop the fig outright though.

hey is a FIG only one semester, or is it the whole year??

One semester, since you are only registering one semester at a time, and the FIG classes are one semester long.

but we can sign up for another FIG come second semester??

i’m pretty sure it’s ok to drop one of FIG courses if its really necessary. At the FIG info session yesterday i asked the advisor if it’s okay to change intro bio I, one of my FIG courses, to Honors bio, the advisor said it’s ok as long as it doesn’t interrupt other FIG courses.

Most FIGs are only one semester, however, I’m aware of at least one my year that lasted through the end of sophomore year. The rest of us were jealous.
