Dropping Out?

I recently realized that after fall quarter I don't really want to be at UCLA anymore - it's not that I think it's a bad school or anything, I'm just not sure what I want to do and I don't want to waste my time and money here. I maintained a less than stellar GPA last quarter and my family can barely afford to keep sending me here. So, I wanted to transfer into a Community College before Winter Quarter starts to finish my GE's and figure out what I want to do career-wise, because it seems like the best alternative for me now.

But, I have no idea what the process is to drop out/withdraw. Do I have to wait out the entire year or can I do so now? Also, where exactly am I supposed to go to drop out? Are there any forms I have to fill out? I know that there's a $400 housing contract cancellation fee - is there one for leaving the year early? Thank you for your help in advance. And, even if you don't know exactly what to do - a link / number I can call would help as well - I don't get much out of google. Thanks again!

You don’t have to wait out the rest of the year. You’re going to have to go through your department or Murphy to know what the procedures are.

I’m pretty sure you can just do it through URSA- that “declare term non-attendance” button… although I guess if you’re going to be gone for more than a year there might be other procedures you need to follow or there might be an easier way so you don’t have to remember to declare non-attendance every quarter.

Here’s the link to the registrar’s site, it has info on withdrawing and what to do when you want to be readmitted : [UCLA General Catalog 2009-2010 Absence and Readmission](http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/catalog/catalog09-10-36.htm#1322729016_pgfId-57350)
