So I’ve put in my application for transfer but something has come up that will force me to leave school due to financial reasons. Now before anyone says “take students loans” it’s more than that so it isn’t an option. I’m wondering can I drop out after I’m admitted to a UC school and come back years later? Is it possible?
We need more information-
-Coming back to UC that you’d hypothetically be accepted into? In that case, none of us here can give you a clear answer. You’d have to contact the school and it’d be up to them. I doubt it tho, as there’s a deadline you have to accept your offer
-How important is this last semester to you? If you’re under 60 units without this semester, or you’re doing major prep work/ finishing up IGETC, then it’s pretty much not gonna be able to happen
Look, if i were you, I’d do whatever it takes to stay this semester. I highly doubt there’s a situation where they’ll hold a spot for you for YEARS.
And what sucks is even after you come back, you might have to spend that year in community college instead of being able to apply right away, as you’re talking about years, and how would the UCs know you’re still able to keep up what you’ve been doing if you have not gone to school in years? That is just speculation tho, idk at all for that one.
Sorry I should have been more clear in my original post comment. I have well over 60 units and I only need this last semester to transfer (I have already applied just waiting to hear back from the UC schools I applied to). I have also completed the IGETC. My question was more so if I was admitted to the school and finished a quarter of classes could I then leave and come back years later. Basically I need to leave due to financial reasons but I don’t want to have to reapply from community college and everything cause major requirements and GPA requirements change Year by Year. So if I was admitted and took a quarter at the school (let’s say UCLA for example) and then decided to leave would they allow me to come back years later? I will also be asking my counselor about this at my community college and update this post.
As a transfer you need to attend at least one term at a UC, then you can take up to two semesters off at Berkeley and I’m not sure how many quarters elsewhere. But there is a cut-off.
