So senior year I decided to try to make it less stressful than my Junior year, which has been going well so far (I’m still taking rigorous core classes, but have a couple more electives this year). However - there is one exception. I am currently signed up for my schools work-study program, which basically means that 2-3 days a week (We have an A-B block schedule), I leave school and go to work. However, the requirement for this (since I am taking out a 2 period block), is that I get a minimum of 12 hours a week in at work. Which might not be difficult, with the exception that I have bowling team practice after school, and am a member of multiple clubs that often have after school meetings. I was able to make it a couple months without stress, but these last couple weeks have been awful because I have to manage going to bowling practice 3 days a week in between work. Problem is, bowling goes until February, and after that another one of my clubs really gets going, so my schedule would probably remain just as tight. I really don’t want to have to stress over work too bad this year, I want to enjoy senior year and actually be able to do my ECs.
Since the work-study class spans two periods, I can drop half of it and only have 6hrs requirement (which would be manageable). However, would schools look down at me for this? I probably wouldn’t end up taking a class instead, nothing really interests me the period I would drop, but I could be an office aid or teachers aid (which I honestly think would be pretty decent, I already work in an office environment for the work study). Since the work-study is a pass/fail class already (I know, could’ve been more rigorous… B-) ), I doubt replacing it with another pass fail would be too bad, would it?
Sorry for the long post, but I really could use some advice. I’m just ready to have some fun senior year instead of having to balance an aggressive schedule.
