Drug Problem: HELP ME!

Get off the OTC meds...they only make your body dependent on them, and it takes longer to "heal" without them. I would know, I've been taking tylenol, motrin, whatever since I was a little kid, but recently decided to stop taking them when I have a headache/when I'm sick, etc. It's hard not to, esp when I have a headache...and I end up caving into the pain and taking 1/2 - 1 pill (but I'm getting off of em!)

Anyway, thats my jibber-jabber for the day. You just sound insanely stressed in general, so to reiterate what everyone else has said.

1) get off the caffiene and OTC pills...bad stuff
2) drink a lot of water/fluid during the day. Juices and water are the best
3) get enough sleep per night (this is the hardest, I know) at least 7 hours will keep your body running...if you exercise, it becomes easier to sleep on time.
4) maybe take a vitamin supplement if you want
5) see a doctor to talk about your headaches and stomachaches. they may do a CAT scan for the headaches to make sure everything is all right, and your doctor may refer you to a GI specalist if the stomach aches are really bad
6) DONT STRESS OUT!! It's not worth it...especially for AP exams. I mean, some colleges aren't even giving credit anymore! They're just giving advanced standing, which is kinda poo.
7) take at least 30 minutes out of each day to just meditate. I don't mean that sitting around and chanting "om, om, om" stuff you see on TV. I mean just sitting somewhere quiet, and just focusing on something relaxing. It seriously makes you feel better about a lot of things.

Anyway this is just what I think.

Do you have a female gynecologist?

Some of your problems could be hormonal, so you shouldn't overlook that possibility.

Otherwise, see a GP. There are many new drugs out for treating migraines. If you think they are stress-induced, it may be that a low dose of an anti-depressant could make a dramatic difference.

It appears that you have a sensitivity to Advil,(the stomach problems) which may mean you can't take anti-inflammatories. This is really common, and there are other ways at going about this.

The longer you fret about it, the bigger the problem grows in your mind. Go see someone about it and have it addressed by a medical professional. The worry factor is probably at least 25% of your discomfort at this point.

this is almost making me want to post about my [former] drug problems just to see the reactions :-D:-D:-D

"there are other ways at going about this."

you dont want to go the other pain management routes if this is a frequent problem. trust me.

in reality you can take about 12 [Ibuprofen] problem free (you know this if you run long distances)

[/quote]

Ieatglue, we are self-medicated distance runner soulmates! Meet days I end up with about 8 Ibuprofen in five or so hours with a Claritin or two and some TheraFlu strips. That's not counting the "Ibuprofen pre-gaming" the night before and the post-race evening dosage, of course.

wow you guys are insane
i never take drugs to help me study... i just study and im doing fine
up till 3am?? wow something is wrong with you, school isnt supposed to be that hard and i know the aps definitely arent

10 APs is kind of hard for me.. im making As and stuff but its just so overwhelming i hope its really worth it

I don't see why you are taking 10 APs. Life is more important than getting into college. Seriously. I took 4 last year and was completely stressed out. I can't imagine taking 10. Colleges don't expect you to take 10 APs.

Are you taking two APs tomorrow(AP English Language and AP French Language)? I did that last year. It was a major pain. My advice is to go through a checklist of important things to remember on those APs and then to just relax. There's not too much you can do the night before for those APs(history is a different story). When I'm stressed out, I take a nice warm bath with soothing music on. A lot of times I just sit in silence in the tub or smoke cigarettes(I know this is bad for your health but whatever). Once you get out of your bath, you'll be tired and drained feeling, and just want to go to sleep. Go to bed early. Anyone will tell you to do that.

The morning of the test(s), I recommend not studying. Just relax. Go get Starbucks or something. It's just a test, and trust me, APs aren't as important as you think.

tomorrow: french + english
tuesday: calc

monday: bio + physics
tuesday: chemistry
wednesday: us + comparative govern
thursday: macro + micro
friday: sleep
saturday: prom

monday: cedar point

yeah... im having a blash memorizng the french dictionary, tho i dont think it actually works

10 aps? how many periods do you have in a day?

hang on there! 10 aps are hungus but you'll get through it! It will totally pay off (hopefully lol)

about the yoga thing, my mom bought me yoga tapes last year to relive stress.. yoga was just boring and I just preferred more active stuff like soccer, aerobics and tennis. I think i got more stressed from yoga - all that concentration while meditating... i don't even think i was supposed to concentrate.. just keeping my 'focus towards my nose' was stressful!

Also pilates made my body nice and tonned while relieving stress at like 12am!

I think running/ anything active can get rid of stress too..

Most painkillers actually hurt your stomach a lot especially the aspirins. That's why you're supposed to eat them after a meal, and my parents (who are doctors) always make me eat them with some sort of stomach pill, even after a meal. Anyway, I get pretty frequent headaches as well, but if the headaches are so frequent that you have to start taking more painkillers to alleviate the headache, then you definitely need to see a doctor.

" think running/ anything active can get rid of stress too.."

Very true. If you're stressed out, go outdoors and do a couple of miles...you'll feel absolutely great when you get back (though maybe a little tired...lol)

Endophine is nature's best painkiller/relaxant.

wow... what a day...
english then french with a 3 minute bathroom break... this is just so great
i finish the english test at 11:45, the french bus leaves at 11:15 to the language lab, i go to the office and get help... the principal drives me there at 11:55, gets there at 12:03, i make it there at 12:07, go to the bath from 3 minute, then start the test at 12:15

Yeah it sux, but just chill and it will be alright. =)

it sounds like you're getting migraines, to start with. the rest of the symptoms are probably from stress, lack of sleep, bad nutrition, etc. go see a neurologist to subscribe you some migraine medicine ( i take imitrex, it works pretty well ).

Stop giving advice people.

He/she should see a doctor ASAP.

i didnt think it was THAT bad to see a doctor... u see people take bottles and bottles of tylenol on tv all the time

bumbum, stress and lack of sleep can cause migraines.

I haven’t had time to read all the posts, but wanted to try to help here. Please see a doctor asap. I’d suggest seeing a neurologist to see if these are migraines. I get migraines, and tried the OTC route (which didn’t work!) but ultimately I needed a very specific migraine medicine from the neurologist. He did tell me to stop all OTC use, since apparently ‘rebound’ headaches can occur from too much use of OTCs, and you get caught in a vicious cycle. In the meantime, yes definitely, caffeine withdrawal, sleep deprivation & stress can all cause headaches, as can the female cycle, if you are a girl. And the OTCs can definitely cause stomach trouble & potentially liver damage. BTW, never combine the use of alcohol & Tylenol please…livers get destroyed this way. Please go see the doctor, you will be glad you did.

^You’re a little late.
