What is the drug scene like at Northwestern? Is it a conspicous part of life or an underground activity that is looked down upon?

I know lots of people who smoke pot... no one really cares... but that's probably the worst I've seen since I've been here.

The only portion of the student body that looks down upon it is the portion you don't see out on the weekends, so they dont matter. Alot of people smoke pot, the stereotype is south campus is weed and north campus is alcohol/cocaine, but alcohol is everywhere whether you want to see it or not, weed is around if you look. The coke scene isn't terribly big but its definately there just underground and you wouldnt know about it unless involved. Other drugs are harder to find, but shrooms are around sparingly.

Underground doesn't mean its looked down upon it means its not visible to the student body.

but obviously you know about the 'underground' coke scene ;)

does that mean you do coke?

Drugs are bad.....mmmkay?

Kids,

Whatever you take, make sure it's not crystal!

I personally don't, but I have several friends that do.

ecstacy is the worst drug, bar none. one pill = brain and memory damage and IQ drop

um...contrary to what ndhawk says, the people who don't do drugs can be seen out everywhere on campus on the weekends. myself and my friends are case in point. you're much more hard-pressed, from what i've seen, to find people who don't drink but still go to parties rather than people who don't do drugs and go out. i'm not going to preach about the dangers of drug-use because it's your decision, but i will say that i've made a personal choice not to involve myself in drugs, hard or not, and my social life has not suffered at all.

that being said, marijuana is not very difficult to get your hands on because i've seen it (and smelled it) all over campus.
