I'm just wondering about the drug scene at your school, if you know about it. Is it visible? For my campus, other than LOADS of alcohol, I'd say pot use is pretty obvious. There isn't much else that's visible. I've heard of people having anything from acid to coke, though. (idk if this topic is allowed)

A good amount of smokers. A lot of smokers will play with some other things- acid, shrooms, k, molly- coke is harder to find, even though my school is in a major city. Rx drugs go around as well- benzos and opiates. Not a lot of people do those, but they are available. My buddies who experiment the most typically stick to hallucingens. The art kids occassionally do harder stuff- coke. But it’s there if you know the right people.

Not too visible. Pot is pretty common in my residential college though.
Our drug of choice is alcohol.

Other than alcohol and nicotine, I don’t think there’s a ton. Some weed, yes, but not as much as you’d find in some school like UCSC.

Some people go crazy with alcohol on the weekends. Some people go crazy everyday. Pot is also pretty common. Although I do none of those stuff, I’m not really bothered by the fact that a lot of my friends get wasted and high on a weekly basis. It’s kind of hard to find someone around here who’s both cool and clean.

On 1-2 occasions, I was walking to my car from the library late at night, and I would pass a car parked along the sidewalk, windows rolled up and blasting loud metal music. There’s someone inside zoning out, and there’s a bad smell as you walk past it. I’m guessing it was either meth or heroine. It’s scary what those stuff do to people.

meth makes you focus, not zone out. i doubt someone would listen to metal after using heroin. smoking heroin also isn’t very common. still not good to see someone ****ed up behind the driver’s wheel.

Heroin doesn’t really smell bad, just a bit vinegary. Meth varies a lot by the chemicals in it, and can smell quite bad, but I don’t really think of meth users as sitting there spacing out; the image that comes to my mind is someone with a ton of energy acting jittery, trying to do a lot at once.

well it was definitely something, because I doubt that the person was taking a nap in the midst of super loud music.

To add to my portfolio, I was at a bike shop one day. I was waiting at the front desk because I had a question about lubricating my bike chains. I heard the manager sniffing a lot in the bathroom. As he was walking out, I saw that he had a band around his forearm and a piece of cotton beneath it. Obviously, it had something to do with needles.

I’m never going back to that bike store again.

I’m sure at every school there are people doing whatever drug you can come up with. In general, if you’re not looking for it you’re not going to see it. Where I live weed is basically legal (not on campus, but in the city), and it’s expectedly prevalent. Even so, if you’re not looking for it, you’re not going to be around it.

Nearly everyone drinks alcohol on the weekends. There is a fair amount of cigarette smokers; and some marijuana and Ritalin, but not much.

Weed, K2, and Ritalin are very prevalent. Mushrooms and random pharmaceuticals are probably the next common. And then stuff like lsd, salvia, cocaine, and dmt are still present, but very rare.

“random pharmaceuticals” - this is more interesting than the obvious cannabis/alcohol/heroin/cocaine/LSD presence and abuse.

Do people use amphetamines for exams and essays, or do they amp out to party it up as well? What about date rape drugs? And what benzos are “in” and available these days?

It’s pretty sad though that most people who take these medications have no idea what they’re doing…

My school has a lot of weed use, that is about it.

When I say that, I mean A LOT. I guess each school has it’s share of narcotics but I feel like mine goes a bit over the top.

Do people use amphetamines for exams and essays, or do they amp out to party it up as well? What about date rape drugs? And what benzos are “in” and available these days?

Aderall and Ritalin are stimulants.

I don’t know of any dealer shallow enough to sell roofies.

Benzos- typically Xanax, maybe some Klonozpine (sp). Basically RX anxiety meds. Depends on your area though, and what type of students.

Most people at my school do drugs, it’s awesome.

zzzzip

Marijuana is not a narcotic.

A lot of people drink, and a possibly even higher number smoke weed at least occasionally. Seriously the alcohol and weed scene at my school is almost ridiculous considering how smart all these people are. A couple of people take hallucinogenic drugs for a fun “weekend trip” but that’s about it. Very few people do coke and it’s hard to get. No cases of anyone taking Heroine or Meth are known to anyone around campus.

Z-class non-benzodiazapines are growing in popularity as well. They aren’t nearly as strong as your typical benzos, but I know of a number of people that take them because the side effect profile is much nicer, and they have no real withdrawal.

“Seriously the alcohol and weed scene at my school is almost ridiculous considering how smart all these people are.”

What exactly do you find ridiculous? Weed is completely harmless. Alcohol isn’t it; but it’s relatively cheap and very much available, if rather crude (I doubt fine wine and champagne are the students’ choice).

I mean it, that you wouldn’t expect at it at my school. I know for a fact a lot of parents don’t.

I know that drug use has nothing to do with intelligence.
