I'm not into the drug scene and was wondering if many students at Columbia were the same as well? I understand Columbias got many pot-smokers and whatnot but is that a majority or whatever? Whether there are a lot or not doesn't really affect my choice anyway...Columbia is just an awesome school.

thanks for any help.

Not sure what you mean by "the drug scene." There are plenty of hippie Birkenstock-wearing disheveled commie stoners, and there are people who might do pot at parties / clubs. As for numbers, I doubt that anyone knows stats on how often people at Columbia do illegal drugs and whether it's any different than at any other schools.

It's not like 1970 where your whole suite is going to be passing the bong around in the suite lounge. If you don't want to be part of whatever you deem "the drug scene," to the extent it exists (as I'm not sure what it is), you won't be part of it.

i believe ~70% of campus has tried pot. this was part of the statistics i was given by the school's ask alice!/alcohol/drug abuse office.

and this school is incredibly harsh with dealing with pot violations. it's ridiculous, and enough to discourage blatant use.

as the old joke goes about Hampshire,

Parent taking a tour: "Excuse me professor, is it true about the big drug problem on campus?"
Professor: "I don't think anyone has a problem getting drugs on campus."

My mom just read this and laughed hysterically.
