<p>Has anyone had experience with hair drug testing? My son got an internship with a Fortune 500 company for the summer (he just finished his freshman year). He had a hair drug test today. I am really nervous about it. I don't think he smokes pot, but I don't want to be naive either lol. I would not be surprised if he did it a little at college, whether once or even multiple times. I've read that it can stay in your hair for 90 days or even longer. So do they test positive even if it was just a few times? And does the company take away their offer? He was hired (assuming he passes the drug test and background check.)</p>
<p>i doubt the amount of times he did it matter, just the most recent. You can google about what a hair test will find.</p>
<p>I assume it is likely the company will take away their offer, otherwise why would they both with the drug test? It is good for him to find out now that he wants to work places where they give drug tests. Now he can make future decisions with this in mind.</p>
<p>my only experience is with the federal government and they have all been urine test. And a failed drug test = loss of job.</p>
<p>Thanks for the reply soccer guy. I guess the normal amount of hair tested is 1 1/2 inch - which represents the last 90 days. I don’t even know if they were able to get a full inch and a half from his head, maybe an inch which would represent 60 days. I know there is a cutoff level, and what I was wondering was that if he just did it a couple of times, would he exceed the cutoff level? I don’t even know if he has ever done it, lol, just that he is a rising sophomore, and from what I hear, A LOT of kids try pot.</p>
<p>One time is enough to test positive. However it will go away quicker the less you smoke. If he did it once r twice it would only be in his system for a month at the most and if he has short hair generally he should be fine.</p>

<p>Soccerguy - Yes lol! He had the test on Monday, and we had no idea it was a hair test. His hair was already pretty short, I am guessing the most they got was an inch? Anyway, most places cut an inch and a half, which covers the last 90 days. If you are bald or they cannot get enough, they take from your body, which is actually worse! I guess it stays in your body hair even longer! Hopefully all this worrying is for nothing! I still don’t even know if he has ever smoked.</p>
