I overheard a very interesting conversation the other day, and I was wondering what the CC community would think about it. A few people were discussing the possiblities of taking focus-enhancement pills before a standardized test to substantially boost their scores. I for one would never even think to do this, nor do i know if it works, but I now bring the issue to you all. What do you think about this?

I took a 5 hour energy both times I took it and it definitely woke me up. I’ve heard of people going as far as taking adderhol.

You’d probably be better off just getting plenty of sleep, eating a good breakfast, and staying hydrated.

I would regularly sleep at 1-2 AM prior to tests doing both productive and unproductive stuff. Then one day, I decided I could get a good night’s sleep and go to bed at 10:30. You can actually FEEL the difference–trust me. Sleep early, get a good breakfast, and be confident. No need for supplements.

Yeah, just sleep well and eat a good breakfast. I got 10 hours worth of sleep in, which is incredibly rare for me. I felt in the zone when the test came and finished each section with 10-15+ minutes remaining. I think that’s why I got a 35, instead of the 29-30’s that I got on my practice tests.

Sleep and glucose. Speed of any kind will wake you up alright, but it can blow your concentration if you over do it. Sleep will keep you rested and alert and the glucose is what your brain burns for fuel. Just don’t over do that, either, particularly if you tend to be a bit hyperactive.

I know that they don’t help. When you’re in the room you’re focused anyway. If you take an ADHD medication, like Adderall for example, you’ll gain a euphoria, false sense of confidence, and alertness, which is great when you have a lot of homework or if you’re pulling an all-nighter but useless on a test.

Works really well, can raise anyones score by 2 points at least.

i started taking adderall 2 weeks ago and yes, it does help during tests.
