I see housing has opened up. Haven’t committed yet, because still waiting for a few more college decisions. Should I do the housing application now or is it OK to wait? I do t want to miss any opportunities.
Most schools u need to confirm b4 u can apply. Check the rules.
They force u to commit now to get good places yet many kids won’t hear back from others til April 1. Still the kids deserve to choose not be forced into early choices
I believe that what’s open right now is just the first of a two step process. My D has committed to DU, and she filled out the first part yesterday. It was basic information like emergency contacts, etc. There was nothing that let you choose the specific dorm. So I don’t think you’re missing out in any way. But definitely call the housing department if you’re worried.
So did you have to send in a deposit before you D got access to fill out that basic information?
We did do the deposit, since she’s sure DU is her top choice! I don’t know whether that was required to do the entry, though.
Regular decisions are in! My S21 got direct entry to Daniels. 4.0 and 1270 SAT, good recs, homeschooled and lots of dual credit courses., multiple jobs, LAX and skiing are the main ECs. Good resume.
Daughter was accepted today - RD (I did not see an RD specific thread)
Computer Engineering
GPA: 4.7
OOS (CA)
1460 SAT
Congrats to all and good luck.
I am an international and I didn’t get my decision. Anyone else who didn’t get their decision?
Maybe you should call? I know the regular decisions came out last week but don’t know if there would be different timing for international. Calling admissions and asking would be the way to get correct info.
Has anyone who completed an early application for the Honors Program or PLP received a decision? They were due out 3/16, but D hasn’t heard anything. Thanks!
My son hasn’t heard anything yet. I think his teacher reference was in a little after the early deadline, so that might be his delay.
There is a response to a question on the DU Admissions Twitter account. They are finalizing PLP and HC decisions and will be finished soon. They said to keep checking emails in the next few days!
Honors decisions are starting to come out! My daughter was accepted!
@MtnMama123 can you share stats? And is honors a separate app? I have a S22 considering DU. Congrats!
Sure! 4.0 UW GPA, 1420 SAT, 3 sports, and many other ECs. I believe her essays were very strong. The Honors Program requires an additional application after you receive acceptance. There are additional essay and recommendation requirements. There are two deadlines (early and “regular”). If you search for DU Honors Program, they have a great website that outlines the program.
Thanks so much for the info…very helpful!
Did she get an email? Or did it show up in her portal? (And congrats!)
I think my son’s recommender delay may put him in the regular consideration…even though his part of the app was in by the early deadline. So we may be waiting until the end of April!
It was by email. Her portal still just shows that she submitted an application, but there is nothing there to indicate acceptance.
Yeah…he didn’t get his. So either that is bad news or it will come in a later batch.
Thanks for the update!
Surely he would get an email either way! Hopefully he’ll hear good news soon!
