I just tried to complete the TU insurance waiver online for my S, and got an error message. I called and spoke with Health Services, and was informed that because my S has dual citizenship, the waiver can not be completed online. I was instructed to call the Registrar's office for more info re: the dual citizenship classification. When I called the Registrar, they informed me that, on his admission ap, S stated that he had dual citizenship (he is a US citizen, but has dual automatically because his father was born in Canada). I was wondering whether the dual citizenship classification could have played any part in his merit aid denial and/or other aspects of his life @ Tulane.

Other aspects, I really doubt. I cannot see any other area where it might be a factor. But for aid, it might be. Usually I only hear of it being an issue for need based aid, but it cannot hurt to call the Financial Aid office and just ask directly. Or Admissions. For merit aid it would really be their issue, I guess.

I did think of one other area it might apply, although I can’t really see why it would impact anything. But for study abroad (if he is thinking about it), who knows. In fact, using his Canadian citizenship would make going to Cuba easier, I guess. Although it is opening up anyway, especially with programs like Tulane has in cooperation with them.
