I was very interested in Tulane, and wondered what kind of grades/SAT scores were about average for the merit scholarships, focusing on the DSA/Founders scholarships in particular. My guidance counselor sort of hinted that Tulane is a school that tends to recruit Jewish kids from the Northeast. Any truth to this? Thanks,

I have heard that the "cutoff" for DSA was 1350 (old) SAT and that it was very SAT-stat driven. My own S was under that SAT mark (1320) but had top grades (imo) - 122w/93.8uw on 100 pt scale. He also had a very good essay and top recommendations, consistent and strong music EC's. He got the DSA. He did NOT get the DHS although he applied, because he received a letter encouraging him to do so after his initial app was in - it said something like "even tho your stats may not fit the profiled, based on your strengths we encourage you to apply." I believe the profile for the DHS is ~1450 old SAT and top 5% of class.
