Dual Credit or AP English 3?

Hello,

So I’m currently a sophomore in high school, and soon I will choose my schedule for junior year. I live in Texas and my school offers dual credit english 3, and I’m really stuck between whether I should take that class or AP English Lang. People often say AP Lang is easy at my school, but my teachers claim that it’s hard, so I’m quite conflicted. I haven’t heard many opinions about dual credit. I will also be taking:

AP calculus BC
AP US History
AP biology
AP psychology

I’m wondering if taking AP Lang would add more workload than necessary, or even drop my GPA because english is my weakest subject.

I would take AP Lang. Most prestigious schools don’t take dual credits. Also, I would not rely on teachers are sources to be honest. Here’s why I think that. A teacher could be teaching CP Biology and could possibly have students that signed up for AP Lang and just don’t try in school. Once that teacher hears, “it’s hard” from that student, they already have a preconception in their mind. If you have friends that have taken the class, go off of that. If you are still concerned about the difficulty, just go and talk to the teacher who teaches the class. I’m sure they would be willing to tell you more.

In Texas, how will the choice affect your class rank?

Both classes are weighted the same for GPA

I see. Thank you very much for the response

Does that DE class count for TX publics?
You may want to drop AP Psych, unless it affects your rank too much.

If you are applying to a top 20 college or university, take the AP. Your teacher may be trying to weed out those students who won’t really try.

Take Dual Enrollment and take the AP exam. They cover about the same curriculum in different ways.
