I am wanting to know the advantages of dual degree programs, and are they a good stepping stone in a medical career (I am planning on pursuing a career as a plastic/cosmetic/reconstructive surgeon). I am familiar with the following:

MD/PhD (This is the one that I am interested in pursuing)
MD/MPH
MD/MHA
MD/MBA
MD/JD

All of these programs are offered at the Ohio State University (my 1st medical school choice). I just wanted to know if these were good programs, and if they are beneficial in the long run.

haha ive been asking that question for a while....esp. MD/MS and MD MBA..........with respect to the MD/Phd, there are some combined programs which will pay for your med school education (a big plus!). But, someone should only do this if they have a genuine interest in biomedical research otherwise its just three more years of schooling. However, MD/Phds do command a great deal of grant money, and they often rise to high administrative positions at medical schools......I guess it comes down to how interested you are in the academic part of medicine.....
