I took a dual enrollment class (english 1101 and 1102) to get college credits early in high school. I didn’t do as well as I hoped and do not want that bringing down my college GPA as I expect to keep it very high and expect those classes to be A’s. I wanted to know if there was anything wrong with not reporting the grades because when I asked the counselors if they had the credits they said no and that I would have to send the grades in or there will be no proof that I took the classes. So my question is - Can I not report the grades and not have any problems or will I get in trouble for not reporting the grades?
There is a national student clearinghouse that allows colleges to know that you have taken courses at other colleges. So you will have to report all college courses taken.
Every application will ask if you have taken any college courses for high school credit and require that you send then the transcript.
If your concern is that those two classes will bring down your GPA when you actually matriculate to a university, you have nothing to worry about because the vast majority of the colleges in the US don’t include courses taken at a previous institution or dual-enrollment courses in GPA calculation.
Whether or not you report the grades, the grades will always be a part of your educational background. But you can make up for it by taking the equivalent courses later in college and doing better.
