Dual Enrollment Students

Hey guys I just figured I would start a thread for dual enrollment students that are going to be graduating with their AA. It seems like some of us have got our acceptance/denied and some are still waiting.

I will have my AA and I applied to UF engineering school and I got accepted. This is what it said:
Congratulations! You have been admitted to the 2011 Fall University of Florida freshman class! Your official notification and additional materials will be mailed to you in the next few days. Until then, and on behalf of the Office of Admissions and the University of Florida, welcome to the Gator Nation!
Sincerely,
Office of Admissions
University of Florida

I am thoroughly confused because I definitely did NOT get all of my pre-reqs for the school of engineering. Any other dual enrollment students that got the same message with an AA, but not all the pre-reqs?

Here’s what I got:

"As a prospective student receiving your AA degree or 60 credits in addition to your high school diploma, we will be reviewing your college GPA, and the completion of prerequisite courses for your major, along with other pertinent information for transfer admission. Your major is very important in the transfer review process. Please contact the Office of Admissions immediately if you need to add or change your major.

We appreciate your patience as we continue to evaluate your college-level coursework.

Sincerely,
Office of Admissions
University of Florida"

If they’re leaving it up to a certain college/major to accept me than forget it lol. Don’t be confused be happy! =]

I applied as an AA/High School student. I already have 61 credits, will have 79. It makes no mention of this on my page. It says National Merit Scholar, Accepted, and that’s it.

Congrats!

I officially lost hope lol

what is the exact message it says, if you dont mind me asking?

Mine says:

"Congratulations on being named a National Merit Scholar semifinalist! The Office of Admissions is pleased that you are considering the University of Florida a challenging and rewarding place to pursue your college education.

University of Florida"

Then a text picture of an acceptance letter that says little in actual substance. I applied as a student getting an AA, made sure they always had my most current college transcripts, indicated my major as History, and completed all requirements for the AA and the major. Ah well, there’s probably a way to clear things up if I wanted to go.

My son is dual-enrolled and had expected a rejection due to lack of pre-req’s for UF college of engineering, but received the same acceptance note that “UMcane” received. He had originally expected to have the 6 of 8 courses they call critical tracking by taking extra classes over the summer, but had a set-back this semester when he wasn’t prepared well-enough for Calc 2. He plans to take it this summer along with another science class, most likely, but will now only have 5 of 8 courses. UF was notified by way of college transcripts and still accepted him. Hoping that his acceptance isn’t rescinded end of year.

Although my son is only beginning the Dual Enrollment - AA Pre-Engineering track, I was told that getting accepted to the school and getting admitted to the College of Engineering are two different things. You should contact the College of Engineering directly, not admissions, and send them a list of your college classes so they can check the pre-requisites. UF (and other schools) publish the required list. If you don’t have all the pre-requisites yet, you will likely need to finish them up before being actually fully “admitted” into the college of engineering. We got all the info we needed from the Associate Dean for Student Affairs College of Engineering at UF. She sent us the “PRE-ENGINEERING ASSOCIATE IN ARTS DEGREE: A Customized Program of Engineering Studies Between Brevard Community College and the University of Florida College of Engineering” - so my son can plan all his courses and be ready. She also said she has a special program for dual enrollment students because they get so many of them that are ready to start their junior year.

Well I believe I got accepted to the college of engineering cause I just got an email that was talking about chemical engineering and how they are delighted that I am in the program or something like that. lol. it doesnt matter either way though because I am going to change my major.

I’m still waiting on my decision…but hopefully I get in at the transfer level haha

Just wondering why you are changing your major and to which major? One still in the Engineering area or completely outside that area? Have you looked into whether it is easy or hard to change majors at UF?
