I am a highschool junior in south Florida and recently all of the seniors got the news from UF saying if they were accepted or not. ALMOST NO ONE WAS ACCEPTED! Top students in our school, well rounded and everything, were denied! However, the kids that seemed to take many dual-enrollment classes seeemed to be accepted more than the kids that did mosstly AP's.

Anyways, here's what my "resume" would say so tell me if i even have a remote chance, thanks =]

thanks =]

What is your GPA? I think that you have a great chance. I have been admitted for Fall '11. Apply as early as August of your senior year. Send all of your test scores to UF. I recommend taking the ACT just to see what you make. If you received a 1770 without studying, you should get a 2000+ with lots of studying and prep. Your ECs are great. About your dual enrollment. Make sure the classes you take match the prerequisites of your major. You may be looked at as a transfer student instead of a freshman. That can play a substantial role in the admission process.

my unweighted is 3.8 and my weighted is 5.57 and im ranked #50 out of 461 students.

thanks, i didnt think i was gonna take the act but now it seems like a good idea so im going to register later this week. I talked to my guidance counselor today about the transfer thing, but im fine because im not getting my AA. And thanks for the advice, it was very helpful, and it made me feel a lot better knowing someone who got into UF thinks i have a chance =]

I heard that applying for summer session at UF gives you a better chance of getting in, is this true?

rank of 50/461 is iffy. SAT under 1900 is iffy. Combine, very, very iffy. There’s always FSU and the directional UFs as backups.

@Kattsthename Yes the Summer session is easier to get into. BTW you’re welcome.

I hate florida and uf is the only one i like and feel as though i could see myself living at because it is very different from the rest of florida, its in a small town, but its still a big school. if i dont get in then ill go to santa fe, the community college there and then transfer to uf because i will have nearly enough credits to get my AA shortly after high school.

Obviously i will increase my SAT, i took it without studying the first time to see what id get, and my rank will increase because im taking 6 classes at the state college in my community this summer, giving me 18 college credits and im takin even more senior year. and im in the top 11 percent so i think thats pretty good for now. but glad to know, hopefully im not “iffy” after this summer.
