Hi everyone, this is my first time posting here. I am currently a high school sophomore and taking AP Economics. I have an A average in the class as well as all my other classes. I have a GPA of 4.04. I am currently in the process of making my schedule for next year (Junior) and I have signed up for 3 AP classes including AP English, AP Chemistry, and AP Government and Politics. My school also offers dual Enrollment at Clarion, CCBC, and Robert Morris. And I am curious whether or not I should take one or two courses through Dual Enrollment. Please Respond, Thanks.

It depends on how much you can handle. I’ve done 2 classes of Dual Enrollment in either Spring or Fall semester since Sophomore year, and have never had a problem. Don’t take something that’s going to be writing or reading intensive if you won’t have time for it though. Maybe take something like sociology, or oceanography.

Do you do any ECs? Would these classes be online or in class? Are you going to take a full high school schedule in addition to these classes, or are they going to replace a class or two?

I play baseball from February through October. The dual enrollment classes would be at a college not online, and I am going to take a full high school schedule in addition to the dual enrollment classes.

I am not familiar with these schools. Do they have a decent amount of night classes so that you could enroll there?

Honestly, I would not enroll in one first semester. Wait and see how your schedule is before deciding to do one OR do one online. If you find your schedule has a lot of free time then take a class second semester.

IMO though your time would be put to better use by doing some ECs rather than taking some extra classes. I say this because not all classes transfer and because it’s usually better to take classes during the summer when you’re not going to potentially have a lot of conflicts. JMO though.
