I know if you are in Wharton you can dual major or choose a minor from CAS; but can you do it vice versa also?

i.e is there a minor offered through Wharton? I think not, but wanted to know for sure.

Thanks!

If you are in SAS you can get a second major in Wharton, but first you need to be admitted which requries a very high GPA and fulfilling the requirements.

There is no official business minor offered by Wharton. There is a minor offered by a Wharton department though, Statistics. There are also university minors that are interdisciplinary and combine Wharton and SAS departments (ex: marketing and psych).

thanks Venkat89.

since there is no official minor through Wharton; take it there is no chance for a CAS student to double major in a Wharton subject???

I know you can do Marketing & Communication dual major being a Wharton UG. It would probably dilute it's prestige if they allowed a Communication major from CAS to get a "Marketing" major. I am not sure. From what I can tell, being in Wharton, you can double major or minor in CAS, SAS, Nursing, Annenberg etc; but being in CAS you don't have as many options through Wharton. Is this correct?

P.S Venkat89; are you in Engineering or the college? I think SAS is engineering and CAS is the college!!!

cas is the undergraduate division of sas; both are arts and sciences - seas is engineering.

To double major between schools you need to get into both as a dual degree. To get into SAS and SEAS requires around a 3.0 GPA. To get into Wharton requires a 3.8+ GPA. It is a lot easier to start out in Wharton and apply to the second school for a dual than it is to start out elsewhere and apply for a dual with Wharton.

I am also thinking about a dual degree.

Here is what you need to do: have a 3.8+ GPA (killer, I know), and take Math 104, Econ001 and Econ002 in the first year. You'll have to apply at the end of the freshman year.

Sadly, this is not the end of it. In order to earn a dual degree you have to satisfy both requirements of CAS and Wharton, this meaning that in this four years you'll have to earn a minimum or 39-44 c.u.s (summer school or packed schedule).

Another thing that you might find helpful... and to which we have easier access... are the inter-school minors with Wharton. Look them up on the college's website. (for example, Consumers Psychology - PSYC+Marketing)

thanks all; i will look up the link!

a dual degree is diff from a dual major , dont mix em up.
