Hello people of CC,
I would like to inquire about the admissions process (specifically at Cornell, JHU, Northwestern, Carnegie and Vtech). I am a prospective undergrad who is planning on submitting applications to about 9 unis (top choices mentioned above). Anyways, I was wondering whether being part Palestinian would increase or decrease my chances of acceptance. I have been reading 'CC' for about 2 years now (however, I just recently made an account) and there has been much talk on 'URM'; does being a Palestinian count as URM? Or will it be the exact opposite and lead to the crumbling of my chances of acceptance?
P.S. I am not an international, but I do have Palestinian ethnicity.
Thanks for your time and future repl(ies).

URM’s are usually African Americans/blacks and Hispanics. I don’t think you will be treated as an URM. However, if you have an interesting story, that can increase your chances. Top universities like students that have over come obstacles. If your background show this, it could help your chances.

Good Luck!
