Ducks look good; Stanford lays an egg.

Since when is men's ice hockey a "minor" sport and women's water polo big time? Only in Palo Alto, I guess, where football is also a "minor" sport, apparently!

Incidently, Harvard is playing Columbia in football today. Harvard is a 7-time national champion in football - noting the "Cardinal" have ever achieved. And I note that the last time Columbia was in the Rose Bowl, the Lions triumphed over ... Stanford!

Anyway, it seems to me when other people make valid points, you have the habbit of being non-responsive to them and switching to others immediately. That's pretty cheap and lame.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

Byerly, why do you continue to post on threads like this? Is it because you want to persuade others to your point of view? If so, you'd be a LOT more effective if you actually answered the counter-arguments raised, IN FULL, instead of just ignoring the numerous points that prove you're hideously wrong.

I am never wrong, Jimmy. Eat your words!

Byerly,

The last of those 7 football championship was won in 1920. Now that I think of it, I thank God they didn't start counting 300 years ago when Harvard was the only school that could crown itself "champion" over and over (lol!). I am sure you missed those days when blacks weren't even allowed to join teams. It's under this sort of environment (either there weren't many teams competing or the best talents were discriminated against) that Harvard athletes appeared to be the best. You would like to go back to those days, don't you? Oh, by your logic, I guess you are saying UK is more powerful than the US now. I must say you are a funny guy.

Lots of schools don't even care to have hockey teams.

It's pretty clear when I said ice hockey was "minor", I meant there weren't many teams competing and therefore it's A LOT easier to win a championship than in sports like tennis. Even with such low level of competition (relative to tennis, baseball, basketball), Harvard only managed to win just once back in 1989! Looks like they need to add "chess" soon just so they can get their 11th one without waiting for too long. :)

Sure, Byerly. My mistake. I think I'm done with this thread.

Where's Byerly's comments on Saturday's win?

He's too busy licking his wounds because Harvard lost to Penn.

His typical style--avoidance when things don't go his way.
