It seems strange that Duke, or any college for that matter, would send out recruitment brochures so late in the game. One big, fancy one arrived in our mailbox Saturday, 1/3.

Optimist says 'Wow! They liked my application so they are hoping to convince me to attend!"

Realist says "Wow! The Christmas holiday mailing season must have been crazy this year! This brochure was probably sent out weeks ago and just arrived!"

We got the Duke brochure in the mail today, Jan. 7th, in Southern California. It does seem odd to get it a week AFTER the deadline. Wouldn't want to read more into it than it really is, but . . .

By any chance, did the OP apply for a Robertson scholarship? My son did so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it. My son has been accepted to Stanford EA but would jump on a Robertson if given the opportunity for a free Duke education.

If you submitted your supplement, then I think Duke will know. Also, Duke hand-select some people even though they didn't submit the supplement. The selection process is quite long and they go through a few rounds of elimination. But the students who end up getting the scholarship really deserves it. There was a guy from my school who got it last year for UNC. He said it's a wonderful program with lots of interesting opportunities.

OP here. Yes, S is a Robertson applicant to Duke and UNC both. MOMofknowitall, S too was accepted EA - Georgetown SFS - but like yours would jump at a Robertson.
