It came in the mail today. It describes the program and directs you to the A.B. Duke website to learn more. The website says there is no separate application for A.B. Duke. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions identifies A.B. Duke candidates from the applicant pool and forwards their college applications to the A.B. Duke Advisory Committee for consideration.

An unexpected thing for ED applicants to receive a few days before decisions are released. Was this sent to the entire ED applicant pool?

It's not all ED applicants; they select a few people who they believe are high-achievers and send those out. You'll need to go through an interview and all that fun stuff. Congrats! You must be very qualified. You can pretty much be sure that you're in :)

not from NC--have an older son at Duke though.

I wish each and every one of you ED applicants happy news. Also, stay open if you are deferred. Spread the love around to a couple of other fine colleges on your list, and keep your hearts open to Duke as well. My son at Duke did not get into his first choice college and did not expect to see anything but a waitlist at Duke. He did not decide on Duke till the last minute in April. Since the day he stepped on campus, he has been completely happy with his peers and teachers, and now wants "all of his children to experience Duke...".

Keep your hearts and minds open. Duke is a great universe but your second or third option can also be a great new world for you.

that said, I hope you each get what you truly are seeking.

My D got one yesterday too. Looks like a mass mailing. It is a post card with a computer generated mailing label. So I would love to think it was sent because of something special in her application (she has applied RD), but I doubt it has any purpose other than to let applicants in general know about the program.

I think it's a mass mailing but I just wanted to remind people that those accepted ED are still considered for scholarships (I know of someone who was accepted ED who got the Robertson afterwards). So, applying ED doesn't take you out of the running for merit scholarships.

I agree with Mondo..it is a mass mailing intended to remind skittish applicants that Duke has some great merit options as well as very good financial need offerings.

My D got the postcard and a viewbook type thing in the mail yesterday. She is trying to finish up her RD application to send tomorrow. I thought it was just a reminder to hurry up and send in the application. U of Chicago seemed to do the same thing right before the EA due date.
