That’s good to know, and I used to be an emory scholar applicant

until yesterday hahaha

That’s good to know, and I used to be an emory scholar applicant

until yesterday hahaha

Haha me too! then again, turnout was horrible, especially for majority of the CC crowd anyways. Guess they were super competitive or wierdly selective this year.

I got an interview, but didn’t apply by the priority deadline… does that happen a lot?

I’m a rejected Emory Scholar applicant as well. I applied by the priority deadline but didn’t receive an interview. It just happens, I live in Seoul so I’m sure there aren’t a lot of alumni in the area that have volunteered to do interviews.

@xcrunner9
Yes it does.

Does anyone know how to inform Duke of any updates to your application (new award, recognition, etc.)?

Anyone read this book yet about life at Duke? It’s an expose of college life, written by a recent Duke grad. http://www.amazon.com/Chasing-Zeroes-Student-Overachievers-Misguided/dp/0989776506/ref=tmm_pap_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1380780442&sr=1-1

Has anyone received an email about the focus program? Got one yesterday. I am regular decision applicant but haven’t heard anything yet. Do you think it means anything?

I got one. I don’t see why it would mean anything at all…

Where does Duke stand on al of your lists? First choice?

Most schools send out informational/recruitment type emails all the time and it almost never has a bearing on admissions.

Duke is pretty high up on my list because of its close proximity to my house and amazing pre-medical opportunities and advising. As well as extraordinary interdisciplinary majors. If I were to get in and if I had good financial aid, there would be very few schools/opportunities that would supersede Duke on my list…

I don’t think I’m going to be able to wait approx. another 2 months for the Duke decision… I was so close to applying Early Decision but was unsure. It was not until I visited the campus in December that I absolutely FELL in LOVE with Duke. I had my alumni interview two or three weeks ago, which seemed to go very well. I’m not expecting much due to the fact that the applicant pool is always very strong, but still dreaming of an acceptance!

I was an ED who got deferred to RD and somehow got an interview! It went awesome, I have high hopes.

@picklechicken37 I believe it’s typically late-March, early April.

Has anybody else had a phone interview? I had one last week. It seemed to go very well. Pretty conversational, and it was 53 minutes long! I feel like it went very well, but it is foolish to even hope for an acceptance. The admit rate for RD is going to be worse than Ivies. Even worse for Pratt, due to the increase in applicants.

Jibler…I called the admissions office and they said to fax in a letter about the update. Seems a little weird to me since we’re in the 21st century and all. And I thought updates usually worked through regional reps. I’ll probably wait a day or two and see if anyone else has any idea on how to send an update to Duke.

That being said, any former applicants out there that could clue me in on how to send an update to Duke? Is fax really the way to go?

I have sent a fax update to Duke. That is the way to go.

Thanks for your help immasenior…good luck to you

I sent them an update (deferred ED here). I did it by making a letter a PDF file and emailing it to my regional rep. She responded thanking me and confirming they got it a bit less than a week after.

What date did people find out their admissions decision last year? A few other places said by April 1st but I already received decisions from them…

By mail? Or email?

Both so far, for UChicago (waitlist–email only but expecting letter soon) and WUSTL (accepted–email and letter)
