@DukeShama - maybe the higher ups at these schools know, but probably not the ones answering the phones. Or may be they know, but have been asked not to divulge. Or may be no one knows because they are still going through applications…
Do you guys think they have most of their decisions made up by now? I mean because the deadline is coming up do you think they have made up their minds about most of their applicants? Lol kinda scary to think about
Probably not cause I submitted new info today
And they accepted it
@emmalini that’s how everyone is at my school too. Everyone believes it and UNC to be equal so a lot of smart kids apply as a safety reach school of sorts (aka “If I don’t get into Yale or Georgetown I guess I’ll just go to Duke”)
My counselor turned in my first quarter grades, she told me, but my second quarter grades are poor right now because I was absent for a week and have a lot of zeros until I make things up. I seriously hope they don’t see any grades until they are finalized
What the… upenn ed decisions out this Friday
Cmon duke!
I’m genuinely terrified of that email for rejections. No matter how much you mentally prepare yourself for that email, I don’t think there’s anyway to avoid the intense disappointment
I was never contacted for an interview, so I am sending in a third recommendation. I don’t know if that will change anything, but I want to increase my chances as much as possible as I anxiously wait for December 15.
The rejection has got to be a bit harder for anyone willing to apply ED. It’s obviously our first choice!
It’s made a bit more difficult to prepare myself for either outcome because everyone around me continuously says that they know I will get in, don’t doubt myself, etc. The only people who realize how highly selective it really is are the few friends of mine who are also applying to highly ranked schools. It’s as if very few people understand my anxiety or will understand if I get rejected.
Even my mom is planning to take the 15th off. I didn’t tell her it may be the 14th because I kind of just want the privacy of dealing with rejection if it happens.
The exact same thing happens to me and my friends. Except most of my friends are applying to even more elite schools than me lol
I am still extremely nervous. I guarantee nearly everyone who is applying ED has the proper credentials, but people will still get rejected. But who knows? We could get rejected by Duke but accepted by an ivy! It will all turn out for the best. We will all end up at phenomenal schools. I just keep my expectations low and my hopes high for December 15th*!
I’m hoping some people who applied were basketball fanatics that didn’t have qualified scores so that the acceptance rate could actually be higher for qualified applicants.
there are definitely plenty of unqualified applicants in the early round
My friend applied with a 27 ACT, straight Bs, and one EC. Do with that what you will
He also wrote his supplemental essays the night of at 11:30
@BB1313 was that one EC being a national/world class basketball player?
White male
33 ACT (36 math), 2080 SAT (800 math), 800 on Math I and Math II and Physics subject tests
Rank 48/650
South Carolina
4.0 unweighted, 4.9 weighted
If the scores didn’t hint to it, I’m applying as a Physics major
I want to go to Duke because I took a class there over the summer in their Summer College program and absolutly fell in love with Duke life. It was one of the greatest experiences in my life both socially and academically.
I’m applying ED
