so my dad doesn’t have a W2 form, he’s self-employed and his proof of income is his federal tax returns. on IDOC he’s the noncustodial parent and it says we’ve submitted everything needed, and his w2 substitute is his federal tax returns. but on dukes financial aid portal his W2 form is still not checked off. wondering how i should handle this/if it matters? it’s not like i’m gonna get financial aid anyways, my moms assets alone puts our EFC at 100k+
im in a similar situation. i filled out everything on IDOC, yet something is still missing. however, I have not received an email from Duke requesting more documents so I am assuming they have enough information to make a financial aid offer if I were to be admitted.
I saw on some old forums that Duke usually sends an email out to students around 3 days prior to releasing decisions-- if they are released this Thursday, the 10th (the second Thursday of the month, on trend with the last 7 years), would we receive the email tomorrow? And if so, around what time do they usually send out that email (morning, night, random?)? Honestly, I think Duke will probably end up releasing decisions some time next week due to the increase of applications and deadline being pushed back two weeks, but I’m still hoping to know this week! Fingers crossed!
yeah i’m guessing if it’s this week they’ll let us know tomorrow, otherwise it’ll be next week
I doubt decisions will be the 10th. In the article where they released the statistics, it sounded like they had not even made final decisions on a lot of applicants. I am assuming they will do that this week and then release next week?? Just a guess but I would be very surprised if it was the 10th.
i know it’s unlikely that decisions will come out this Thursday, but does anyone know around what time the email that tells us about how to access decisions usually comes out? they usually email about 3 days before the decision date, so I’m still clinging to hope that decisions might come on the 10th.
same hahahah i think that the email will come out around 5 or so… idk it just makes the most sense and i remember my sister got the notifcation email sometime in the early evening
In 2018, ED applicants received emails announcing the ED decision date on Monday, December 10th @ approximately 9:12pm. In 2019, ED applicants received emails announcing the ED decision date on Monday, December 9th @ approximately 5:10pm. Pretty sure there’s no set time-- seems random to me.
if by some miracle it’s this thursday, we’ll probably receive the email between 5-8pm today. if not, it’s next week
did anyone else see the article about one of the admissions committee chairs saying how he is trying to make the percentage of test-optional students equal to the number of those who submitted a test? do you think this will actually happen?
Just also saw that in 2017 for the class of 2022, the pre-decision email was sent at 1:03 pm on Monday the 11th-- also 3 days before the release of decisions. That means if it’s this upcoming Thursday, it could be really any time from now to 9 PM tonight. I’m praying we find out soon, I can’t handle all this anxiety.
yeah, this kinda confused me because if test scores truly are optional this year, then shouldn’t it not be 50/50 between test optional and not test optional applicants. in reality, they should be making decisions holistically, meaning they shouldn’t be setting a goal of splitting 50/50.
yeah i agree i just think they are doing it so it does not look like they are favoring students with test scores. i wonder if they will still do 50/50 since it was 60/40, because then students who submitted a test score would be disadvantaged
that is not good for me…
I don’t think they’ll split it even 50/50 - surely that will mean a disadvantage for the people who submitted scores? and the whole point is that it’s meant to be a level playing field, so giving the students who didn’t submit scores an advantage would stop that.
Where was this article?
here is the article
Thanks
it’s true that he said this, however it was back in october when they had no way of knowing how many people would submit test scores. in fact they probably thought there’d be a majority test optional. if anything, i suspect that they said this to ease people’s concerns, not to make a promise or anything. it was to reassure that they will admit people who are test optional. we’ll see what the stats look like when decisions come out but right now i don’t think we can rely on that statement
i have a feeling it will be pretty close to the 40% test optional and 60% test submitted, but it is honestly a guessing game. just hoping decisions come out on the 10th
