I submitted a visual art supplement, so I hope that sort of thing does have an impact. I think it makes you stand out beyond just the grades and test scores that everyone else applying has and it shows another way that you can contribute to the community.

A warm hello from the Aloha State! I applied early and cannot believe that we are merely two weeks away from Judgment Day. This is such an exciting (and terrifying) time in our lives. I wish you all the best of luck.

I am so nervous!
But I won’t check the decision until the weekend, don’t really want to cry my heart out on a school day and face my classmates the next day…

I really hope they don’t make the decision before they get my November SAT scores…

I’m really hoping we hear from them before Dec. 15. It would be such a relief to know.

Does anyone know when we’ll recieve an email with the information on how to get our decision? Can’t wait for the day!!

lol i don’t think any of us can wait! they’ll come out for sure this coming week. probs monday or tuesday. i reallyyy want an earlier decision though. UPenn kids got their email today and get their decision next friday at 5 pm.

In other news, I submitted my Robertson application a minute late I guess its experiences like these that build one’s character? ugh…

I myself submitted both dance and oboe in my arts supplement. They don’t help or hurt if you’re not very good–but if you’re good enough for the orchestra, I think it’ll most definitely bump up your chances of admission! :)

Now I can’t remember who I meant to reply to and answer his question. oh well.

I am betting decisions will be released Dec 13th.

Just about 12 days and 9-10 hours until their deadline for notification. I’ve found myself feeling like I’ll be finding out any minute everyday now. I’m ready for the decision already. I’m trying to think of other schools right now, so I’m not devastated if I’m deferred. What do y’all think your chances are? With my stats and ea, I think I have a 50% chance of getting accepted and 50% chance of being deferred. Soon enough

@PragmaticDad - Why the 13th?

I looked at past years’ ED posts and it seems that Tuesday is a recurring day. It was Tuesday, Dec 14th last year. No real reason though. Applicants can expect email notifications of the date next week…that I am reasonably sure of.

I was just checking out the <a href=“Student Information Services and Systems | Duke”>Student Information Services and Systems | Duke; website and I noticed that under Financial Aid they seemed to have added a couple new things. Both of them ask for the previous year’s 1065 and said they were due the 15th of November. Are these on anybody else’s and did anybody actually turn them in? I’m fairly certian that when I checked the site earlier in the month it didn’t ask for them. The Duke financial aid site doesn’t seem to ask for them either. What are they?

Things seem to be happening on Duke’s Applicant Web Site. There is now a notice that comes up informing applicants of delays due to heavy access.

Form 1065 is the IRS form for Partnership Income. It should have been included with the tax forms that were due Nov 15th.

Just a heads up…just because colleges ask for more FA information, it is not a sign of admission. The FA office is busy ensuring all documents are on file, so that if an admit decision is reached…they can proceed without delay.

@Pragdad,

Where is the notice of heavy traffic? I just logged in and there was no notice on my applicant assess account…

I have a question…Will they take into consideration that I am the first of my entire family to go college in the U.S.? I am also an immigrant from England without American citizenship. My mother is from Ireland and my father is from South Africa. Will this have any effect on my chances?

@WilliamAndMary-
They definitely take into consideration family history with regards to college education. It is always impressive to be the first one in your family to attend college. I can’t speak to the international aspect of your situation, however.

Also, to all of the ED applicants, I encourage you to try and relax and put into perspective the impending early decision. I applied ED last year to Duke and was accepted. I was told countless times to not get hyped up over the decision, blah, blah blah, etc. So, perhaps relaxing is a futile effort. Rather, what all of you early decision applicants can do is realize that if you believed in yourself enough to apply to Duke early, you will undoubtedly get into a fantastic school (whether or not it is Duke). You will all do extraordinary things.

Savor the excitement, but don’t let it overwhelm you.

That’s all.

^ A very wise piece of advice!

I’m crossing my fingers that my daughter gets good news from Duke by the 15th but I know that her 2nd - 5th choices are all solid schools that will provide excellent educational opportunities.

Well said Relax15 and Fauster! :)
