@sacajawea, No, they don’t recalculate ACT scores. They say they consider your best scores from each section even if they’re from different test dates, but unlike the SAT they don’t superscore and calculate a new raw score based on those tests. But, still, it would be advantageous to send more than one test date if you did considerably better on a section or two the second time around even if your composite went down a bit.

By the way, the CR/Writing being equal and added to the math section information came straight from the Dean of Admissions. I’d say he’s a reliable source. ;)

Just heard from a student admissions ambassador that decisions will go out in about a week (December 5th or so). Best of luck to you! I remember this anxious waiting period well :)

Are you saying that decisions will be out around the 5th or that they will tell everyone around the 5th when they can expect the decisions to be posted? Thanks. :)

@OhioMom2 and @Seahawks506 - I’m saying decisions will go out the 5th.

This is what I saw (on 2015 Facebook group): “Hey everyone - I know it seems early to be thinking about the Class of 2016, but Early Decision acceptances go out in about a week (December 5th). We’ve put together a group for the class of 2016. It would be great if some of you could join now and answer questions once the new kids get there, since you are all so experienced and knowledgeable now. I’m sure they will all want to hear from you.”

Since Nate posted that stuff, I figured I’d come on here to answer questions you have. If you didn’t guess from my totally original and creative username, my name’s Michael, and I’m the President of the Class of 2015 here at Duke.

My guess is that ED decisions will be sent out the 15th. Last year they were sent out on the 14th, and the group description in the newly minted 2016 group says the 15th.

However, the fact that Nate wrote “next week” in his note to us 2015’ers could be telling. Hey, I could be wrong. Wouldn’t be the first time.

Anyway, best of luck to you guys! We’re all excited to add to the Duke family. If you have any questions about life at Duke, let me know.

Possibly, but I wouldn’t think so. I wasn’t an ED applicant, but for RD people, the decisions were posted online, so I’m assuming that’s what they’ll do for ED as well. It’s not like they send them through the mail and then some people get them before others. It’s all at once.

Sorry about that, it was a typo, and I apologize for any false hope I gave you! Last year, decisions came out on the 14th, and in the three years prior to this, decisions have always come out a few days before the 15th. So the 15th is the admission’s absolute last day to post decisions, and they usually post before then. I remember last year, the admission was done making decisions by November 28th, which caused a lot of anxiety among our ED group :)

Again, sorry for the misinformation, and best of luck to you all!

Thanks for the clarification December 15 will be a big day. Honestly the best way for me to deal with the stress is to watch Duke beat Ohio State right now!! Go Blue Devils!

Just like everybody else, I’m incredibly anxious for the 15th! Do you guys have any idea how much of an impact a very good (if I do say so myself) music supplement will have on my application? Does it even help a tiny bit? I sent one in for guitar as well as trumpet.
