Duke likes their students... FUNNY.

A quote from the Duke University Undergrad Admissions Page:

"Our 6,200 undergraduates are among the most engaged, brilliant, passionate, and funny students in the world. "

And I'd think a prestigious university like Duke would say "humorous" or "entertaining.." rather than "funny."

^^^ The word "funny" seems out of place. Do they actually look for a sense of humor in their applicants?

I think they must mean funky. Cause I know I'm super funky.

Seriously though I don't think funny is out of place here.

^^^ Agreed, funny isn't out of place there. Entertaining makes us sound like a bunch of clowns and humorous makes us sound like a bunch of uptight snobby middle aged adults. Funny on the other hand isn't so bad, probably the best out of the three.

passionate... lol sounds sexual.

i think the word choice actually represents what duke is all about - amazing university with unique resources, making it as prestigious as it is.... while still being down to earth.

FDSJFGJASD but maybe i am bias :D

It seems like they are just using this as marketing to make the students come off as more approachable. I'm not funny and didn't make any attempt to come off that way, so it's not a requirement.
