Hello! I am a senior in high school recently admitted to Duke (yay!). However, I am the first person in my family who has gone through the American college admission process, and therefore, we missed out on a couple opportunities simply because we were unaware of the logistics, including merit-based scholarships. Does anyone know if Duke provides merit-based scholarships after being admitted, or are my only chances after the application process independent funding? If anyone has information or links that answer my question, please let me know.
First, congratulations on your acceptance! Duke considers ALL applicants for merit based scholarships – there are no separate forms to fill out (except for the Robertson, which Duke would contact individuals they think would be a good fit to fill out the application). However, that has already passed and the scholarship decisions have been made, so if you were not contacted, then you will not get one. You can, however, get outside scholarships through other organizations. I received two outside scholarships which applied to the loans in my financial aid package (reducing the amount I had to borrow).
