<p>thinking about going into law...politics...nonprofit. currently attend duke. hate the town. accepted to columbia and said yes but am having last thoughts. any advice? please throw tough questions at me...i feel like ihavent thought this through enough.

<p>Congratulations! I don't know whether you are a rising sophomore or junior, which might make a difference.</p>
<p>I don't think it matters much for your intended field. So, other things to consider: would you lose time because of units that wouldn't transfer, or because you have to take core curriculum requirements at Columbia? if so, would it cost you more, and do you need that money for law school? Columbia is not necessarily an easy school to transfer into socially, because upper division students are scattered into many different dorms and in hundreds of different groups or activities. As a transfer, would you be given housing with other transfers? Do you know other students there already? In terms of campus organizations, would it matter that leadership positions might already be staked out by students who have been active in them since first year?</p>
<p>Does the attraction of NYC override all that? What if you found summer internships and jobs in NYC while remaining at Duke -- would that make a difference?</p>
<p>Obviously, they are both great schools. Hope this helps you think it through.</p>
