Alerts I’ve received were on June 26, July 13, 15, and 25.

[Another armed robbery reported near Duke Gardens | The Chronicle](http://www.dukechronicle.com/articles/2013/07/26/another-armed-robbery-reported-near-duke-gardens)

That’s yesterday’s… other Duke Alerts are in the Chronicle.

purpleacorn and rmldad -

Update - two suspects have been charged in the armed robberies - one suspect is in custody. Police are still searching for the second suspect.

I agree, rmldad, that the Duke Gardens area is generally safe. I have lived in the Triangle for a number of years and was a student at Duke for 8 years, and I would say that these incidents are highly unusual. The part of the gardens where this happened is also not well-traveled, which may have made it a target area. I don’t think there is any substitute for being cautious and aware of your surroundings in any situation.

We are parents of a Duke grad. this is what come up on a search of Duke today for duke gardens robbery.

Cameras are needed many places on the Duke campus to assist in rapid arrests and convictions.

Faline - your info several days old. One suspect had been apprehended and the other has been identified but not yet found. Here’s the update:

[One suspect caught in Duke Gardens robberies :: WRAL.com](<a href=“One suspect caught in Duke Gardens robberies”>One suspect caught in Duke Gardens robberies)

Again, I would emphasize that this is rare on campus. I’m not sure cameras would be feasible on such a large scale.

I obviously already Kobe Duke, but after yesterday I am even more impressed. We preordered a computer for DS from the IT department. I received a phone call yesterday letting me know that they were going to go ahead and charge my credit card. Yesterday was a tax free weekend in North Carolina so I saved one hundred and fifty six dollars in tax. Wahoo! How cool is that? Thank you Duke!

Oops. Autocorrect!

Too bad tuition doesn’t include tax! That could be some pretty hefty savings!

So we got our move-in parking passes and of course we have the last move-in time which is 1:00. Does anyone know if we are allowed to park in that Blue Zone parking on West BEFORE our scheduled move-in time so that we can pick up S’s Duke card, open a bank account, etc. before we have to move in?

Garetville - did the move-in parking passes come in the mail or online?

Dad-- the student got an email with the info and the pass to print.

Thanks Greek. S’13 can’t seem to find that email. When was it sent?

Ugh. Never mind. It’s found. Thanks.

I know nothing about an email for move-in day parking and the offspring left today for P-waves. I can’t find anything in her email or figure out where to find it in her “my duke” like the “short list” emails suggest. She did leave me info on getting into her accounts while she is gone. Anyone have any ideas about when and where the email was from or how they got the asses printed or any other info about the move in process? Her move in time is 8:30-10, but she doesn’t return from P-waves until 11:15. Great start…

The original email came a while ago but a new one with updated maps came on Friday because there is construction going on near campus. There is an attachment with the parking passes and maps. You will definitely need this because you have to display it on your dashboard for access to East during your move-in time.

passes not asses. I think I am losing my mind! Thanks, garetville, I’ll start looking for it.

Alternatively, if you can get into it, you can go into MyDuke, scroll down to housing, click on “complete housing application,” and the link to the pass will be on that site.

Not a single email from the orientation@studentaffairs people but the housing one worked. It didn’t occur to me to click “complete housing application” when I was looking. Doh!

Just wondering if your parking pass has your name on it? Our pass says “Clay Adams” in the upper left corner. We are not Clay Adams so I’m wondering if this is a mistake or some type of code that I don’t understand…

GreekMana-- The parking pass I got in my email (revised) has Clay Adams on it and not-my room number (GA 99xxx). I’m thinking they made mass, non-personalized passes for all of the residents affected by the construction and emailed them all at once.

If you go into MyDuke, I have an updated pass with my name and room number (that reflects the correct entrance).

Thanks PurpleAcorn. I didn’t know which one was more up-to-date. Clay Adams just became a very popular guy whether he knows it yet or not!
