Just gave up my spot on the waitlist, hopefully to someone who likes Duke more than I do. Best wishes to all waitlisted candidates! :)

yeyy can’t wait to meet all you RDers in August! C:

Ok, I just wondering because she said that she was the one who presented my application to the Admissions Committe, which is why she’s “personally invested” in seeing me come to Duke. When I visited, an admissions counselor explained that an application goes to committe when the regional officer isn’t sure which decision to make.

I just wanted to see if I was the only one. Oh well, dosen’t matter now. I thanked her about twenty times for fighting for me. Lol

What’s the crime situation in Durham like? I’m a bit worried about the safety of the campus. It’s no secret that Durham can be a shady city.

Durham used to be really bad in terms of crime, specifically murder. Key words: USED TO BE. It’s no longer as bad as it once was, although, like any city, there are still crimes committed. Just the other day, I received an email reporting a burglary on campus. I wouldn’t suggest going into Durham at night alone. Always travel with a buddy. Or if you think you can handle traveling alone, I’d suggest carrying mace. That put me at ease. The campus itself is separated from Durham by a simple wall that anyone can hop; however, I think if you are smart and careful, you have nothing to worry about. Good luck!
