Duke Standardize Testing Policy

Hi everyone, I have two questions:

1) The DUke website says that they will superscore the ACT, bu will not recalculate the composite score. Does that mean, for example, if I got 34R, 32E, 33M, and 33S for a composite of 33 and then the second time I got 35R, 33E, 34M, 34S, (composite 34) that they would use the 35R, 33E, 34M, and 34S but keep the composite score of 33?

2) Even though they say they want ACT or SAT with Subject Tests, is it possible to send in just the ACT and subject tests?

Thanks!

I’m a newbie, so my comments might not carry much weight.

1) My interpretation of their policy matches how you described this. They look at the highest subscores, but still consider your Composite score to be 33.

2) They say that they will review all material that is sent to them. I am in the same situation, where I will send the ACT plus Subject Tests. Also, I will have AP scores to send as well.

If you got a composite score the second time of 34, they will keep it 34. It looks like you scored the same or better on every section the second time, no? If so, they’ll just look at the second test. But rmldad is correct in that the look at highest subscores among all tests taken but don’t recalculate the composite. But that doesn’t seem to apply to you since your highest scores (or same) were all from the same test.

I also sent just my ACT and SAT II Subject Test scores and was admitted (never took the SAT).

Oops! bluedog is correct. I missed the statement that the second submitted composite score is 34. Since all the highest scores are from this second test, it is the only score that I would send with the application.
