Duke Transfer 2009 Fall

Hi, i tried to search for the thread about duke transfer but couldn't find it....just wondering if anyone out there on the forum applied there for 2009 transfer?

Hello!! anyone?? there has to be someone here on CC that applied Duke right??..

hey i applied as a Duke transfer this year as well

hey TJones, nice to meet you!
so i think we will get an email next week instructing us to find out the decision online…

i applied too…
how did you know how we are finding out decisions? when i applied for freshman year we had log in info for the website but they said they weren’t doing that for transfers so i was just curious

hopeful292, i emailed the admission a few weeks ago asking if all my stuff was received blah, blah…and they told me an email would be sent during mid-may regarding decisions online…
and yes…there’s no online log in system for transfer, which means we can’t track our application status online…but eventually we can learn the decision online…so next week at some point we will be getting an email about when and how to learn the decision!

Check the Duke Admissions website. They have posted a message to Transfer applicants there. They will be sending multiple emails next week to applicants with instructions for checking app status. Decisions will be available online using the instructions next Friday, May 15, and by phone on May 18.

ya i just checked…cool…this probably means they’ve made all the decisions by now…
but yeah…next Friday! can’t wait…lol

I just got one of the emails that #1travlr was talking about, so y’all should have too! Good luck

I applied and got the e-mail.
But…Duke is too expensive for me. Going to Cal anyway. :P

just got their 3 emails today… 5/15 @10AM…

***!! i didn’t get the emails…ughhh…

I got all three e-mails, and I think it’s way too much fuss…especially if you are going to be rejected in the end. All these steps that lead to an online rejection? -___-

well lah de dah, Ms. Negative Nancy

More like Miss Realistic :D

you never know! Don’t be so hard on yourself!

lol alright.
I hope all of you guys good luck!!!

Hey guys

I just received my acceptance letter. I got into Duke.

it officially says:

May 15, 2009

Dear first name:

Congratulations! The Admissions Committee and I take great pleasure in letting you know that you have been admitted to Duke University for enrollment in the fall of 2009. We are delighted to give you the opportunity to become part of the Duke community.

You should be extremely proud of your achievements. The competition this year was extraordinarily keen, with almost 700 applicants for only 50 places available for transfer applicants, and your many successes in and outside of the classroom have earned you a place among some of the world’s brightest and most talented students. Our undergraduates come from across the country and around the world, and bring to Duke an extraordinary variety of interests, backgrounds, experiences, and talents. You and your classmates can expect to be challenged intellectually, to form enduring bonds of friendship and community, and to share in the excitement of discovery that pervades our campus.

To become a member of the student body at Duke, we only need you to complete some paperwork. In the folder you will receive by mail is a reply card—please sign it and return it to us as soon as possible in order to hold your space at Duke. If you find that you must decline this offer, I would appreciate it if you would return the card to us anyway. We also ask that you submit a final college transcript as soon as your year-end grades become available. Our offer of admission is contingent upon your maintaining a high level of academic performance and personal conduct throughout the spring and summer.

Your packet also includes vital information regarding transfer credit, housing, and other campus services. Please read this material carefully. Once you decide to enroll, you will be hearing from a number of different departments of the University over the coming months, and this material will give you important background information. If you have applied for need-based financial aid, you will soon receive detailed information from Duke’s Financial Aid Office.

You have my warmest congratulations on your admission to Duke. The faculty and I look forward to having you among us this fall.

Sincerely,

Christoph Guttentag
Dean of Undergraduate Admissions
