I could not find a duke transfer thread so lets make this the one. Lets start posting stats and questions

I am curious as to how many people on CC are applying.

Don’t they only have a 5% acceptance rate?

Seriously thats so low

Yeah I was thinking about applying but 5% is too low, the way I see it it’s more of a gamble.

yeah it prob is a gamble but to me its worth the shot

What are everyones stats?

35 ACT
2270 SAT
3.96 high school GPA
3.94 college GPA
Height: 5’7’’
Weight: 127 lbs.

esalazar61,
if you didn’t get accepted with those stats for the first time, why would you get accepted for transfer? you’re still a nerd, and not a kind that duke looks for. You should have realized this when you got your first rejection.

em190, there are 4 huge assumptions in your post.

Are the majority of applicants from North Carolina?

doubt it…

What is this year’s projected acceptance rate? Is it really around 5%?

bump10char

I heard that transfer acceptance rate last year was about 3%, it was 5.2% (25/479) in 2008.

Haha, considering that, I’ve met roughly half of them ;D Most of the transfers I’ve met were female athletes. One guys started a business in college and is also pretty good at martial arts (if you ask me, he likely inflated his resume a ton - I have only been disappointed by him, haha). I’m pretty sure one was an artist. I haven’t met any in Pratt, afaik.

I would say every transfer applicant probably had a decent GPA, but more likely they fit some sort of niche of which the admissions staff wanted to represent better or they did what they loved in their free time and they were good at it.

So, considering that, what sort of extracurriculars did you put down? That would answer your question better. They probably have a deadline of receiving material in a month or two, so you might want to come up with something unique about yourself that will contribute to Duke’s campus if you have’t already.

Trasnfer? Are you sure you’re applying to Duke?

No, they are applying to Dkue.

Did you guys get login info to your online application checklist? I haven’t.
